Financial Plan Amendment 2 2021-2025 Consultation

The Town of Princeton is soliciting public consultation process for the Town of Princeton Five-Year Financial Plan Amendment 2 2021-2025 Bylaw No. 1008, 2021. Any persons who wish to make written comments on the proposed bylaw can submit their comments either by mail, through the drop slot at Town Hall or by e-mail at finance@princeton.ca. Further details of the proposed Financial Plan and a description of the changes to be made can also be found on our website: www.princeton.ca.  Submissions must be submitted no later than July 30, 2021 to be considered.

During the unprecedented heat wave in late June, 2021, the Town’s source wells were unable to keep up with the extreme demand of residents and maintain a safe amount of water for firefighting purposes. Staff have been requested to propose changes to the financial plan to prioritize the identification of a new well site and commence drilling and water quality testing in Q3 and Q4 of 2021. As no water projects were due to commence until 2022, the financial plan needs to be altered to expend money to this capital project.

The fountain project that was proposed last year was not approved as a COVID-19 economic recovery grant. The grant and the ensuing capital project were removed from the financial plan for housekeeping purposes and will be reconsidered during the budget process for inclusion back into the financial plan for 2022.

The improvements to the washroom facilities at the Princeton Municipal Campground that was proposed last year was not approved as a COVID-19 economic recovery grant; however, an alternate grant was approved. For housekeeping purposes, the sources of funds have been altered to match the true source of the funds.

These alterations to the capital plan require amendments to the financial plan. To amend the financial plan, a period of public consultation will be required. Public input into these changes will be solicited from the public in the July 22 & 29 editions of the Similkameen Spotlight as well as on the Town of Princeton’s website and social media platforms. The public consultation process is due to end on July 30, 2021.

All submissions are requested to be in writing, and submitted to Town Hall either by email to finance@princeton.ca, mailed to PO Box 670 Princeton, BC  V0X 1W0 or dropped off at the front mail slot in front of Town Hall at 151 Vermilion Ave.
