The Town of Princeton embarked on the development of a comprehensive Recreation Master Plan in May of 2024 with the Recreation and Parks Consulting Firm of Lees+ Associations. Town Council adopted the Princeton 10-year Recreation Master Plan on March 19, 2025. This recreation plan is important for the future growth and enhancement of our recreational spaces for the next 10 years.

The Recreation Master Plan is strongly grounded in the community and include an inventory of current recreation facilities and programs, a community needs assessment, a vision for recreation in Princeton, recommendations for assessments of new and expanded facilities and programs, and an implementation plan with funding strategies over the next 10 years. This plan outlines strategies to meet the diverse needs and interests of our community members. The plan aligns with the Strategic Plan for 2022-2026, the Official Community Plan 2022-2042, and the Age-Friendly Assessment and Action Plan 2023-2033.

The implementation of the Recreation Master Plan will be phased over the next decade (2025-2035), with specific projects subject to annual budget approvals and potential grant funding. The Town will explore traditional and alternative funding strategies, including user fees, sponsorships, grants, and partnerships to support plan execution.

Princeton Town Council would like to thank First Peoples, community members/residents, local organizations, and staff who guided the development of this plan. We thank you for sharing your passion for the future of Recreation in Princeton.

Thank you to the Regional District who supported this plan financially with the award of a RDOS Grant.
